Overflowing October!
October is chock-full of important initiatives, celebrations, and awareness!
A few highlights:
Bullying Awareness Month
HES students will participate in Unity Day on Wednesday, October 19th. Their motto is "Together Against Bullying- United for Kindness, Acceptance, and Inclusion." Students will wear the signature event color, orange, and create a schoolwide chain made up of links that specify why they're unique and why it's important to not bully others. Check out their website for more information: www.pacer.org/bullying/nbpm/unity-day.asp
Dyslexia Awareness Month
This awesome flyer, made by our district dyslexia queen Darlene McBride, has some great information on dyslexia and some upcoming programs to highlight the dyslexic experience:

Red Ribbon Week
We will celebrate making good choices and saying no to drugs the last week of October. This year's national theme is YOLO (You Only Live Once), and our students will explore all the ways they can celebrate their beautiful lives without doing drugs! Dress-up days, door decorating, and other fun events will fill this exciting week. Check out the national website for more information: redribbon.org
Hispanic Heritage Month
HES wrapped up our celebration of Hispanic heritage with incredible performances by Round Rock Folklorico and many of our own students, led by our P.E. aide Ms. Solis. Ms. Coursey's art classes provided artwork, paper flowers, and other decorations, and many of our parents were able to join us for an unforgettable morning!
